With all teams having played their first matches as
of May 25, the 2008 Burlington Celebrity and Corporate
Cup season is now officially under way for all participating
teams. The tournament has drawn 20 teams grouped into
three divisions as follows:
Division A - Exposure
A, Gerry’s Grill, Harbour Center, PBL-Press Corps,
PJS Law, Solar Sports
Division B - Grp 1- AFFI,
GNC, Hapee Toothpaste, PGA Cars
Grp 2- Accel, Celebrities, Exposure B, Harbour B
Division C - Asialink,
Burlington, Creative Stuff, Gameface, Pharex, Suzuki
Games are held on weekends at the following
venues: Acropolis, Club 650, D-Zone, and Reyes Gym.
The semis will be held on July 5, 12, and 13 at the
Fr. Cortina Sports Center, Xavier Green Hills (for confirmation).
The finals are set to be held at the same venue on Saturday,

Harbour Center is currently leading Division
A with a 3-0 record followed closely by PJS Law who
is holding a 2-0 record. Both teams stake their perfect
records in a June 7 match-up at the Reyes Gym. GNC and
PGA cars are leading in Group 1 of Division B with 3-0
and 2-0 records respectively. Harbour B, which debuted
only this Sunday, May 25 is the lone undefeated team
in Group 2 of Division B with a 1-0 record. Asialink
is currently showing the way in Division C with a 3-0
record.
EVERYTHING is set for the
staging of the 2008 Burlington Celebrity and Corporate
Cup on May 3 at The Arena in San Juan.
Expected to see action from the entertainment
industry are Bo Cerrudo, Bayani Bayani, Ariel Rivera,
Dyords Javier, Hadji Alejandro, Calvin Millado, Bobby
Yan, Jhong Hilario, Marco Alcaraz, Jay Manalo, Paolo
Paraiso, Allen Dizon, and Gerhard Acao.
The Celebrity squad will immediately plunge
into action against GNC right after the opening ceremony
of the event which is part of the summer activity of
the Philippine Basketball League (PBL).
Aside from the Celebrities and GNC, also
taking part in the tournament sponsored by Burlington,
Coca Cola, Rider, Aquabest, Raymundo Trophies, ACCEL
and V-Go Energy Drink, are PGA Cars, Gerry’s Grill,
Asialink, AFFI, Popoy’s Grill, Burlington, Exposure,
Pharex, Accel, Hapee Toothpaste, Toyota Otis, Creative
Stuff, Solar and members of the PBL Press Corps.
Meantime, the league will hold a clinic
and interactive games in four SM branches starting on
May 4 in SM City-Sucat.
After Sucat, the league goes to SM City-Bicutan
on May 11, SM South Mall on May 18 and SM Muntinlupa
on May 25.
